MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC) IN WELLINGBOROUGH

KG Personnel is currently recruiting Mechanical Technician (Motor Vehicle Mechanic) on behalf of our client based in Wellingborough.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To service, repair and maintain vehicles to a high standard and to a safe and roadworthy condition.

All such repairs to be carried out according to manufacturers’ or motor industry standards and to be consistent with the Company’s Quality Policy, work instructions and work procedures.

DUTIES:
To carry out to a correct, safe and high standard, and by the most economical method, any vehicle servicing, maintenance, mechanical repairs, dismantling and assembly operations, pre-delivery inspections and other authorised repairs.

To carry out vehicle manufacturers’ modifications and warranty repairs as required.

To carry out MOT inspections.

To determine the parts and tools required for a service or repair and to requisition appropriate materials.

To keep a check on all stores, parts and materials held for own use in the workshop and to notify management of any shortages or damage.

To ensure care in the use of all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical tools and equipment.

To ensure all calibrated tools are checked by the Company Quality Assurance Manager and that any new uncalibrated tools are notified to him.

To notify management of any defective tools and equipment.

To care for customers’ vehicles and property.

To use the computer to log appropriate and accurate information for the job cards (hours worked, parts and materials used, work completed, other observations).

To observe the Company policy of “right first time” at all times.

To ensure that appropriate health & safety legislation and internal Company procedures are followed at all times.

To keep work area clean and tidy.

In certain other circumstances the following additional duties may be performed:

To carry out any other duties as advised by management.

To repair in situ or recover vehicles that have been subjected to mechanical breakdown, damaged by accident, or considered unroadworthy and transport to the repair shop or storage compound in a safe and efficient manner.

To undertake mechanical dismantling and assembly operations where they are associated with vehicle body repair.

To deputies for other staff as required.

To generally assist within the Company as required.

Experience Required:

Ability to diagnose, repair and service motor vehicles.

A thorough knowledge of automotive systems

An understanding of the parts required to complete the job.

The ability to deal with customers in a positive, enthusiastic and courteous manner.

The ability to communicate with colleagues in the Company in a positive, clear and helpful manner and to work as part of a team.

An organised approach to tackling problems and workload.

WORKING DAYS AND HOURS:
MONDAY TO FRIDAY 08:00-17:00
OCCASIONALLY SATURDAYS 08:00-12:00
